Dance at Wycombe Arts Centre

Signdance Collective International

Signdance Collective is a boundary-smashing touring performance company that’s based at Wycombe Arts Centre as our company-in-residence. Supported by Arts Council England, they regularly rehearse at Wycombe Arts Centre, refining their shows before taking them on the road.

Critically acclaimed on both sides of the Atlantic, their unique live shows transcend stereotypes and blur the boundaries between dance, theatre, live music and song, new media, and even language itself.

The TIME Project

Signdance Collective’s TIME Project premiered at Wycombe Arts Centre during our 2020 Lockdown Art Exhibition, confronting us with fundamental questions about life: What does time mean to you? And how do you perceive time?

The TIME Project centred on the idea of travelling. Because SDC was unable to tour the brand new show in 2020, the Oracle’s question from the show, “What does TIME mean to you?”, was transferred to artists all over the world.

Live Dance

Live dance is an important part of our programming, and we host everything from small scale local dance groups to international touring performers.

We’re lucky enough to have two fantastic spaces that can cater to different types of performance, from intimate events in our cosy Cafe Space to full extravaganzas on the big stage in our Theatre Space.

Collaborations and More!

As a creative and performance hub for the local dance scene, Wycombe Arts Centre is always on the lookout for new dancers, performers, set designers, costume designers and other creatives who are interested in collaborating on dance projects.

Many of our projects are interdisciplinary, and we particularly love to bring different creatives together to stage workshops and performances that cater to the cutting edge of contemporary dance.
