Drawing and Painting For Beginners and Improvers

October 28 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Bucks Adult Learning are hosting a selection of drawing and painting workshops at Wycombe Arts Centre. The next 11 week course is now booking for January 2020!

Whether you’re a beginner looking to get started or already have experience in the basics and are looking to develop new skills or hone your style, this popular course is for you.

We have our bright, fully equipped art studio with high ceiling and big windows which can comfortably seat 6 students and tutor, and with bigger groups, we offer our cafe space.

What will I learn?

This course aims to provide a supportive place in which you can learn drawing and painting skills in any media of your choice.

During the course you will be given the opportunity to experiment in various media: pencils, charcoal, pastels, inks, watercolours and acrylic.

For beginners the course consists of a series of projects which are structured to take you step by step through various drawing systems and painting techniques from linear drawing and perspective, tonal drawing as a preparation for painting, basic colour theory and to simply enjoying mixing and using paint. There will be reference to other artists’ work to inspire and encourage ideas.

Improvers may welcome the opportunity to revise some of these areas, but otherwise new topics are introduced designed to extend previously developed skills.

Is this course for me?

It is for beginners or those returning to art after some time off, who would like to develop their skills.
The tutor will provide small group demonstrations and individual support to ensure that learners can work at their own level and at their own pace.

What do I need to bring?

Paper/drawing pad, a pencil, ruler, eraser, HB and 2B pencils, a box of charcoal (multi-size). The tutor will advise what to bring for subsequent lessons.

We advise you not to purchase any additional equipment and materials until after the first session.

How will I know that my skills have improved?

At the start, you will decide (with help from your tutor) what you want to get out of the course. You will have the opportunity to review your progress and at the end of the course you will have the chance to reflect on what you have learnt and how your skills have improved.
