I ; N Collective – ‘We are Now’

I ; N (Improv Now Collective) are an international Collective who perform and teach fully improvised dance incorporating elements of music, comedy and theatre in various spaces.

For our event ‘We are Now’ we will teach specific improvisation techniques from our practice which enable us to create our own world whilst performing. Focussing on the importance of sustaining attention to the present moment, building connections with one another and discovering our individual groove, we will create a fun space where we guide participants through exercises eventually leading to everyone dancing together, without judgment. 

We believe by using techniques from dance improvisation into our everyday lives we have the possibility to adopt a more mindful, sensitive and playful approach to life, therefore, our awareness towards how we view and treat the planet will shift. Through providing a platform for the community to join forces through dance, we hope to inspire and bring a celebratory atmosphere to the Bucks Open Weekend. 

The workshop will be held outside on Wycombe Arts Centre’s grounds and is open to the public. Participants don’t require any dance experience prior to the workshop, however we ask for openness, curiosity and enthusiasm to take part. 

After the workshop, participants can stay behind to watch I ; N perform a 10 minute improvised performance. We will also perform outside and it will be a chance for the participants to experience a fully improvised live work, where we use techniques we have worked on in the workshop. 

We will finish the session with a Q&A.
