Pieces of Wycombe
Come and learn the mosaic process and participate in making the community stepping stones project.
Two mosaic workshop sessions:
13th February (12-17)
20th February (18+)
In this project, the BNU Fine Art students aim to celebrate High Wycombe, its past and its community by proposing participatory workshops to create small mosaic stepping stones.
After leading various research and exploring the local area, the focus settles on the town’s history through the partially lost river Wye and the Roman mosaic vestiges in the Rye. The stepping stones act as a remembrance and a celebration.
Through those two workshops, participants will make the designs previously proposed by the community via an open call. You will learn the mosaic process while working collaboratively towards the stepping stones.
The stepping stones will embody a positive dialogue between the past and future of the town; while conserving a part of the community’s present. The outcome will be displayed and unveiled by a celebratory event in Spring in the art centre garden.
