Raj Kumra – This Old Art of Mine!
Exhibition Overview
We are delighted to present an exhibition of work by Raj Kumra, a self-taught artist based in Iver, Buckinghamshire. Raj has enjoyed drawing and painting from an early age, taking inspiration from the expressive world of early Marvel comics and formative trips to gallery-filled cities such as Florence and Rome.
After retiring in 2012, Raj returned to painting with renewed energy and curiosity. Making full use of the wealth of learning resources now available to artists, he has continued to experiment, refine, and explore. His approach is intentionally varied: he works across oils, acrylics, and watercolours, and he allows his subject matter to shift freely between portraits, landscapes, and abstract work — painting whatever captures his eye and imagination on the day.
Influenced by both the Old Masters and contemporary artists such as Salvador Dalí, Jonathan Yeo, Andrew Tischler, and Christian Hook, Raj’s work embraces diversity of style and expression.
The collection on display reflects this “broad brush” philosophy. Each piece speaks to curiosity, joy, and the simple pleasure of making art for the love of it. A varied collection of paintings, ranging from rock stars to landscapes and abstracts.
