Desborough Street Gallery – Community Projects
Sunday August 11th 2019 saw the first Desborough Carnival… It was such a colourful, creative day. Wycombe Arts Centre hosted a broad variety of activities including live music, a vegan market, Crafty workshops and a colouring contest.
One of the standout features of the event was the creation of our ‘Street Art Gallery’: nearby Collins House had been boarded up for 2 years so, working with HWBIDCo, our art department invited talented artists to colour in the eyesore and help create this new feature for High Wycombe, the Street Gallery. And what a difference it has made!
Altogether the first event was fantastic community venture and we look forward to the 2nd Desborough Carnival Next Year when we will update the artwork.
Painted August 2019 in time for the first ever ‘Desborough Carnival’, this first Street Gallery features huge, exciting murals by a diverse mix of people: local and guest artists, beginners alongside professionals, with multi-cultural faiths and both sexes enthusiastically working together to improve the neighbourhood.
