Hybrid Festival Carnival-Themed Opening Night
This event takes place as part of wider Hybrid Festival programming from 6th – 21st August 2021 by Signdance Collective in association with Wycombe Arts Centre.
The Hybrid Festival public engagement project is an in-person/post-lockdown event promoting creativity, confidence, unity and a sense of belonging. Highlights include Signdance Collective’s work-in-progress Oriente Plus, in-person and remote creative engagement opportunities at Islands workshops, “The Land of I” exhibition curated by Tabitha Gunstone-Pollock and MACA Nights in memory of Signdance Collective member Lionel Macauley.
6 PM: : Panman and Caribbean food in the garden: Come and enjoy a set from Panman whilst sampling some vegan food and enjoying a drink in the garden.
7 PM: Samba drum workshopp: A hands-on workshop led by Wycombe Arts Centre founder Mike Watson. Participants can learn some samba rhythms or listen in and dance along.
7:30 PM: Panman: An unforgettable Caribbean experience from local musician Panman!
8 PM: Lasana Shabazz performance in the Theatre Space: Lasana Shabazz shares their brand new Hybrid commission exploring the concept of home and belonging for the descendents of the AfroCaribbean diaspora in Britain. The piece will be interdisciplinary incorporating visual arts, dance and theatre.
