Performance Outline:

What exists in the ‘thin’ places where the distance between the living and the non-living is
closer? Resisting narrative, This is the Land takes us on a mysterious journey of the British
Isles – with its layers, sediments, joys, sorrows, and weather! Unearthing untold stories that
whisper in wish’t places, echoes of folk-tales in the ‘everywhen’- haunted places. The show
explores the wild within us. Through quirky movement and dance, vocal-looping,
atmospheric soundtrack, and five shapeshifting performers.
This is the Land is directed by Mary Steadman in creative collaboration with performers
Leeza Jessie, Alice Barton, Xavier De Santos, Samuel De La Torre, and Sofia Velez.
Red Room Productions is an award-winning company, with a quest for exploring new forms
in theatre and performance. Through a combination of live and mediated technology, we aim to discover new ways to tell our stories and experiences of what it is to be human in a
fragmented world. At the intersection of dance and theatre our style combines layers of imagistic movement, and vocal effects to create a striking visual and visceral language that engages an audience in a poetic unfolding of imagery.
